Divorce Revenge: Anne’s Brilliant House Deal With Ben

He gave Anne only three days to move out. On the first day, she packed her belongings into boxes. On the second, movers took everything to her new place. On the third, she sat down for one last meal in the beautiful dining room, lit candles, played soft music, and enjoyed every bite.

When she finished, Anne walked through every room and stuffed leftover shrimp into the bottom hems of the curtains. Then she cleaned the kitchen one last time and left the home where she had spent 37 years of her life.

When Ben and his girlfriend moved in, everything seemed perfect for the first few days. Then a horrible smell began to spread through the house.

They cleaned every surface, scrubbed every carpet, checked the vents for dead mice, installed air purifiers, and even called a pest-control company. Nothing worked. Soon, friends stopped visiting, contractors refused to work there, and the housekeeper quit.

In the end, Ben and his girlfriend decided to move. A month later, even after cutting the price by more than half, they still could not sell the smelly house. Rumors spread, and local real estate brokers stopped answering their calls. To buy a new place, they had to borrow a large amount from the bank.

Eventually, Ben called Anne to ask how she was doing. He told her about the rotten smell in the house. Anne listened politely, then said she missed her old home and would like to buy it back.

Ben thought Anne had no idea how bad the smell really was, so he agreed to sell it to her for one-tenth of its value, as long as she signed the papers that day. Anne accepted immediately.

A week later, Ben and his young girlfriend smiled and flirted while the movers carried their belongings to their new home. Ben felt extremely pleased, convinced he had cheated Anne in the deal.

The last items carried out of the house were the curtains.
